Most lawn mowers are 4 cycle gasoline engines, although there are a few 2 cycle gasoline engine powered mowers out there. Does this mower have a crankcase where you can check the engine's oil level? If it does, it is a 4 cycle engine that uses regular gasoline. If it doesn't have a crankcase where you can check the oil, it would be a 2 cycle engine requiring an oil/gasoline mixture for fuel and engine lubrication. Mixture ratios vary according to engine requirements.
If you need more information, try typing the make and model of the mower into the Google search box. There is a good probability that you will be able to find an owner or user's manual there.
