I don't fully understand exactly what it is you are talking about, but if it is the quick release coupling for attachments...you pull it back. You will find that most of these are spring loaded. Shut the machine off first, and then move the control to relieve any pressure in the line first!!! Make sure you cover it afterwards, so as to not get any dirt in it.
