    They (bones) are living tissue and not just hard and unchanging like rocks.   Bones are constantly changing, simultaneously being broken down by cells called osteoclasts and at the same time being built back up by cells called osteoblasts.  In bone disease such as osteoporosis, that balance is not there. Too much bone being broken down without the balance of equal rebuilding.  Dynamic!!
