This is an educated guess. (and I am assuming you are referring to the candy bar),  Everything that is in the retail business from clothing & jewelry, cars, magazines, food and candy....has people that watch the trends in what is selling well in their companies and competing companies.  If there is something introduced by another company-something that is selling really well then word gets back and a development team starts to create a similar product (its more complicated- this is the short version).  Once the product has passed the necessary tests it is manufactured and put on the market.

Several years ago crunchy candy bars became the rage..and it didnt take long before the major candy companies each had at least one crunch bar on the market....Candy changes over time- like everything else ( a few things stay pretty much the same- milk, veggies, fruit).  There are candies I ate as a kid that are very hard to find.
