Species - black ducks with long necks ?

I live in Odessa, FL - @ 17 miles N of Tampa. We suddenly have a large number of black ducks enjoying our lake - they have longer necks than our mallards. This morning I saw more water fowl on our lake than ever before.  We had egrets, maybe young herons and also wood storks -.  and these black ducks.  I have pics. A neighbor told me the black ducks were something that started with a K as in kar... or korz... but I cannot find this on line.  Can you help me.  I have a collection of photos of our visitors. :) We also have sand hill cranes but they were not around this morning.

    Cormorants?

    doolittle

They look like ducks..with long necks...they don't float as well as ducks- they look heavy in the water.

Thanks doolittle - they are Cormorants! Maybe the neighbor spelled it K or I misunderstood. A few people between us enjoying St. Patty's lunch. :) Thank you so much. I'm not up early like my husband so I miss a few things. The feeding was going on @ 9:00 and this morning was amazing. I have been thrilled by Sandhill Cranes with their tiny yellow babies - our mother Mallard bringing her babies around, but I have never seen 15 or 20 Wood Storks together before. In flight they look different. Husband says he has seen all, but I will bet him $$ he has not seen the variety I caught this morning peeking between the large open leaves of elephant ears phil..... to get pictures :))

    Maybe these?>>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-bellied_Whistling-Duck

Thanks Romos but not black bellied whistling duck. These ducks are totally black and have slender necks. They stay in this big group and 2 days ago, the first day I saw them, they were in a big circle - diving and having a feeding frenzy. I actually saw one come up with a fish, almost lost it and caught it in the air. Another nearby duck made a lunge for it but the orig guy didn't let his fish get away. I have never seen this activity with our domestic ducks or our mallard couple that have been around for 8 years.
