For everyday use of Spanish and/or Portuguese you can also join a website www. Sonico.com where everyone communicates in Spanish or Portuguese, their music is great and so are the people.  Then try the Google translator for each bit of text that interests you. I communicate with them through the Google Translator, and they are a very nice crowd, from musicians to bikers.

Every day use of the English Language in USA style, is "Raymond Murphy's" Orange book "Essential English Grammar." Very cheap and found in most good stationery shops. You do a couple of units a day, at your leisure, and the answers are given in the back of the book so you do not need a teacher (hopefully :)> )
