The stapes, or stirrup, bone is the smallest bone in the human body. It measures .1 to .13 inches long. It is attached to the incus and the fenestra ovalis, or the oval window. The stapes is also the lightest bone in the human body.

The stapes transmits sound vibration from the incus to the oval window.
