    my cocker spanial's glands are terribly swolen and the vet reckons there is nothing wrong. after tests he said its not cancer, but the swelling is not going down.

    It could be an infection, especially in his teeth. Your Vet schould know that something is wrong. Check his teeth, get bloodwork and urinalyses done.
