You need to check with magicjack about this. The person who give it to you would have needed to deactivate their account which means you now have to set up an account. Honestly, I'm not sure if the devices are transferable.

They say this phone number is only for billing questions, but it is the only way to get a hold of a live person. The only other option is their online support which is basically useless.
