      Most likely it is in the gas tank. Most modern vehicles have their placement there. It makes changing a fuel pump a headache.

        Several car makers do make an access plate to the fuel pump from within the trunk. Check it out first. If not, consider putting one in. I've done it a few times on a taurus. Saves hours of work.
