      What I think it means is that when you accept  Jesus Christ as the Son of God, His sacrifice on the cross pays the price for your sins.  (I don't even want to know how much I'd owe for my sins).  Your acceptance of Christ opens the gate to Heaven.  
      Christians believe that by acknowledging your sins to Christ, asking for forgiveness and accepting His death as your redemption, you are saved from eternal hell. It's not a license to be a jerk. 


      This is what I believe these words from the Bible mean.

        Trust christ/god and your sins will be forgiven , and the threat of eternal damnation is no longer a threat..

          Knowing that your sins have been forgiven can remove a tremendous load from one's heart. This alone can change a person.
          Kringing when recalling past events is a soul and spirit killer. Knowing that looking back without the burden of regrets, its almost impossible to exlain.

          It means when you know the truth about who God is and who Jesus is, adn what he did for us, then you will be free of the worry of dreading death. And you will be free of major sins, b/c God will lead you away from them. God loves you.

            Works well for you eh? Are you worry free? Shouldn't you lead yourself away from sin? Even parents let go of their children's hand at some point and let them think for themselves. Do you have to be so guided by God that you don't know how to keep yourself sin free? What do you mean major sins? I thought no one sin was greater than the other.

            I doubt if any of us could be completely free of sin, major or otherwise. But, for those who feel they have an emptyness, feel that something missing, alone even when with a group of others, may very well venture into sin for fullfillment. Feeling or finding God close to you can replace much of the negative inside a person. This is ONE way God may lead you away from sin(ning).
            If feeling or finding God can do this for a person their life can be much better than before. God bless them.

            It means that the US is more grounded on biblical principles than many want to believe.  It is inscribed on the floor of the main entrance to the FBI head quarters.

              Those same principles can be found in other religions. You can even find them in the Koran.

                  Your phrasing is more accurate than mine. Its "the truth" instead of "truth"
                  "The truth" is singular meaning something in particular, whereas "Truth" would be moreso all encompassing, many things.

                  If I may put my 5c worst. the way I also understand is , You cannot serve two master, one is worldly things and the other is God! Mostly all people are very concern with our possession even our home and kids that we sometime forget where or who put us here.I forgot to mention your partner,that is men or women, Remember the first Commandment."And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart,and with thy soul, and with all thy might.

                    Two masters is right. I know many people who, without their possessions and craving for more, are empty and feel lone. "Things" temporairly replace empty and alone. I think this may be reasoning for humongus credit card debt, ie fullfill something missing.
