    Methane if pure has no smell, but a smelly chemical is added to public supplies so you can tell when there is a leak.

    They use a chemical in natural gas that smells like rotten eggs however natural gas should not be in your tabs so this might be what is happening. Unpleasant sulfur smells coming from your sink drain may be either sulfates or hydrogen sulfide gas in your water. Sulfates gives water a bitter taste and odor, and causes scale buildup on water pipes. Hydrogen sulfide, distinguished by a "rotten egg" odor
