16/18        they are both evenly divisible by 2.      16/18 = 8/9
The trick to reducing fractions is to find the greatest common divisor.  ANY time your N/D are both even, you can divide by at least 2.  You may need to keep dividing by 2, until you can't divide them anymore (as in 8/9).   If you know your multiplication and division, you can tell at a glance what number is the one to use to divide.      14/70   (you could use 2,  but 14 is the largest common divisor)   14/70 = 1/5    (Correction!  Thank you gandolf!)

Simple logic is to divide the numerator and denominator by their common factor

Here, the common factor for the given term is 2, so divide it by 2, then

the required lowest degree term is: 8/9
