    how long do hamsters live for?

    my sister has a hamster and we have had it for 2 years and she would be devastated if it died so i would like to know how long they live for just so i can get her repered.

        5 years old hamster is very rare.

        My son has had two that lived longer, not so rare methinks!

        In Finland where I live 5 years old hamsters are rare.
