    ON my mac only a small colored circle appears on a black screen what does this mean?

    I shut down my apple computer, but when i tried restarting it, only a small disc like colored circle appears on a black screen. What does this mean?

       The inverter is going bad, or, less likely, the lighting panel behind the LCD is going bad. be aware that when the inverter is bad, you can usually still see things on the screen if you look hard enough, if the screen is absolutely dead black, it might not be the inverter at all.
