I can't say for sure because I have neither but I DO hear a lot about Kindle being great!  Maybe it's just a matter of personal preference.  Hopefully, someone else here will be able to give you a more informative answer.

A tablet is better all the time, as there no back light on the Kindle, and if to much day light you can not see very well.

Plus with a tablet you can get a Kindle App to go on it and lots more free. I did not go for ipad as your stuck with there own softwere, I went for Toshiba AT100 this is the best battery lasts over 7hr, back light, attach to PC, two cam bac / fro, a must
