If your answer gets a vote up (thumbs up) that is a good thing.You can't vote yourself up only other members can do this on your answers, you can vote up other peoples answers if you click on the little brown square that has a picture of a thumbs up.There is also a picture of a thumbs down, these are rarely given out unless the answer is of a offensive or rude nature,usually the moderators would have removed the offensive answer anyway.New members have to gain karma points before you can start to vote answers up.

hum.what about when they bump you up?
That means they are giving you karma points,the more karma points you receive the better.I am going to vote your question up this will give you 15 karma points, you will be notified in the little red box of who gave you a thumbs up.

If someone thinks your answer or question is a good one, they give you a thumbs up. New members have to wait a short while before they get that option.

Karma is merely a running tally of the points you have received from other members. The "Bump" option is only available on unanswered questions and allows the person to bump-up the question to keep it near the top so it doesn't get buried before someone answers it. Once it gets answered, the bump option is removed. Once you have the option to give thumb up's the votes left will keep increasing until you have more than you need. BTW: You should never give a thumbs down unless the question or answer is in very very bad taste or vulgar. Everyone has a right to their own opinion whether you agree with them or not.
