I'm not familiar with a Dodge van, but I know that with a lot of vehicles, it's just a matter of removing the wheel and then gently tapping the backside of the drum with a small 2-3 lb hammer. If you tap the drum on opposite sides, it usually breaks it free from having been seated for awhile. They typically break free and slide over the wheel studs.
In the event that the jack or jackstand slips for any reason, I usually position the removed wheel and a 2"X6" or two under the frame near the axle, as a safety precaution. Hope this is of help to you.
