In WWII I heard that the Marines had non-com fighter pilots. Is this so?

Most countries had NCOs, Non Commissioned Officers as pilots.

In Australia we had Sergeants as pilots.

See no reason why your Marines should be any different.

Can I be a little pedantic please? I know some N.C.O.s are referred to as "non coms" in some countries but to me (being pedantic) always preferred N.C.O. as non com sounds almost non combat.

But that is me, but believe me the N.C.O.s and W.O.s (Warrant Officers) run the forces .

High echilon decide what needs to be done, they pass it down to the officers in charge who pass it to the N.C.O/W.Os who get it done.
