It takes quick scans of text documents like receipts and bills and such that you may want to save to your computer. In a nutshell, it is a hand help scanner (like a scanner found on a printer/copier/scanner) looks pretty cool actually. Read the user guide that came with it. The doc station would be the unit you put it in to recharge or to download what you scanned into your computer.
