Bobbyoneal press and hold the "on" button on your Tom Tom.
Hold for about 20 to 30 seconds the unit will respond with the "Tom Tom" sound continue to hold, ignore any writing on screen then release and try to start the device.
This action will "reset" your GPS.
I find I need to do this quite often, pain in the but Tom Tom is a good unit.
