      7 + 2 ( a - 3 ) = 9
      7 + 2a - 6 = 9
      7 - 6 + 2a  = 9 
      1 + 2a = 9
      1 - 1 + 2a = 9 - 1
      2a = 8
      2a/2 = 8/2
      a = 4
