    how do i calculate the amount of water collected from a roof on a rainy day

    rain fall amount is 72mm roof plan is k10m + 5m + 5m + 4m +9m

    why not just purchase a rain gauge and place under the downpipe

    Simplest way is to put a barrell of known capacity under the downpipe. Otherwise you could multiply the area of the roof by the rainfall which you could find by using a rain gauge .
