Does a lawyer obtained for a personal injury claim have to give you a case no. and advise if the claim was ever filed? It has been a year and a half and she now dropped the case and in checking with the county court, there is no record of a claim being filed. Now it's too late to file, this is in the state of California

Complain to the County BAR, if you believe your Attorney has been negligent, would be my suggestion

If you had/have proof the attorney was retained, then you can still with the claim or possibility sue the attorney for failure of due process/negligence/failure of duty.  Contact State Bar and another attorney.
