The cursor disappearing could be because of a Windows mouse setting:
In Windows XP:
1. Click the Start->Control panel menu item.
2. Click Printers and Other hardware.
3. Click Mouse.
4. Click the Pointer Options tab.
5. If the Hide Pointer While Typing checkbox is checked, clear it and click OK.
In Windows Vista:
1. Click the Windows->Control panel menu item.
2. Under Hardware and Sound, click Mouse.
3. Continue as with Step 4, above.
