    What is the code height of a hand rail for going upstairs in my house ? Also height and depth of stairs ?

    We have a stair case that needs a hand rail and the stairs were improperly installed , at least we think so.  we just need to know the proper height of the handrail and the proper height and depth of the stairs.  Thank you.

      Handrail: 34 to 36 inches from the tip of the step.


      Steps:  71/2 high x 71/2 wide. It's called the rise and run.

        34 inches & 1tread + 2 risers must equal less than 25 inches, determined distance between floors
