Talk to them.. be honest.

Ask questions, good ones not so nosy about the person you wish to know. Be kind and respectful and gracious......

Talk, share going places together and doing things that interest both of you. Don't involve people outside of yourselves, as that won't allow for either of you to establish a degree of intimacy. Other than that, be nice, kind, and understanding. Have fun and share some laughs together, don't let yourself get nervous and uptight...just go with the flow.

Spend time with them.

Watch some comedy together. That, more than anything else, will help you get to know a person.  If you laugh at the same things, it can probably be a lasting friendship.  If you don't, it is not a good match.

You have to share the same sense of humor, in order to be friends.

Open up with you are ... but do it slowly and carefully. As you get more honest, so will they. This is the first time in my life I haven't had a "best friend." I'm kind of the new girl in town. I have relatives but I don't think they count. You can't say ANYTHING.

Again ... don't say  too much too soon. They'll think you're nuts and run.

ask them questions about themselves. Most people like to talk about themself or their kids, anyhow.
