    george is paid $8 per hour for first 40 hours and $12 for every hour over 40.  how much did he make if he worked 46 hours and 15 minutes

    He got ripped off.It is time and a half for the first two hours of over time IE: $12 per hour BUT after that he is entitled to double time for all time that he worked OVER the two hours.
    Therefore he worked 2 hrs at time and a half and a further 4hrs and 15 minutes at double time.
    He is also entitled to a paid dinner breakof 30 minutes if he works more than 2 hours over time, so you need to add a further 1/2 hour at double time to the rest of his overtime.

    Take that one into your teacher.

       ($8 x 40) + ( $12 x 6) + (15/60 x $12) = $395
