What is Random Access Memory's DDR

Why are there different versions, DDR2, 3, 4?  In replacing RAM, which one should one get?

Read here >> What Is DDR RAM? I guess the next part of your question depends on the type of RAM DDR your computer uses now.

I have DDR2. To add RAM, does it have to also be DDR2? And do you need to replace it rather than add extra in spare slots?

If the RAM you have now is not broken, leave it alone. If you have an extra slot, put in only DDR2 like the article says. A larger one would just be a waste because the system will not use the extra. The reason is explained out in the article.
