      UK area: 244,820 km2
      9,826,630/244,820=40.1381832

        Nine times I think  I had a same scale map of both and cut out the UK map and placed in on the USA one As near as i could see the US was 9 times bigger but find the area of both and divide the British number into the US one for greater accuracy
