    are there strips in one hundred dollar bills 1989 and older

    Some older bills did have a water mark strip in them.However there are not many still in circulation.Even without the watermark present small colored fibers are present through the thickness of the paper which cannot be duplicated in the counter fitting process.

    Are there strips?  Did you mean to ask if there were stripes?

    I think the stips that were referred to is the plastic strips that run up and dowm inside the paper itself. If you put the bill up to the light, you will see it,
