If by "jump start you mean by using another vehicles` battery was the "donor" vechiles` motor running when yo tried to start "receiverVehicle? If not do so and run at a fast idle for a few minutes PRIOR to attempting to start "receiver" vehicle.
Ensure you have firm connections , you say there was a spark from the necative connection then nothing/. This sounds like the connection was "broken" there should NOT I repeat Not be any sparking when making connection.
