To prove it , probably a geologist. Clergy can't help you because anything they tell you will be from the bible and a great deal of that is conjecture. Most of the bible isn't historically accurate, it's symbolic and metaphorical. You need a scientist.

Oh I believe there was a great flood, alright. It shows up in every culture's mythology. But an act of divine retribution? Come on. Why would a loving god kill over 20million of his "children" for sinning. Do you really believe 20,000,000 humans on earth were that bad and only one was good? The Bible is not the source for the cause. Look for a scientific explanation.

I would consult with your clergy person about this.

However if you want to know the truth read Richard Dawkin's book  'The Greatest Show on Earth' which explodes the Genesis myth. Sadly almost 50% of Americans and 100% of Muslims prefer to believe the Genesis account.
