we signed for a new car-put $5,000 down and the dealer said they would have to drive the cae (new) about 10 hoursw to get i8t to us-we agreed-now,five days later the dealer called and asks if we still want the cae-the other dealership has been using it for a demo0. Are we still obligated by law to buy that car?

You buying  a "NEW" car not a demo. Threaten to sue them. Get your money back than spit at them and buy a new car somewhere else.
