        Jhhartan - Yes he died in a car crash aged 24 yrs. 30/09/1955. He was driving a new Porsche 550 Syder on his way to an Auto Rally in Salinas.

          I drove by the spot he crashed a couple years ago, there's a big sign erected stating that 'this is the very location of James Dean's fatal crash in 1955' (or something like that.. On highway 156 I think it was, it travels between I-5 and US 101.


          anyway, someone ran into it, it was laying on the ground all banged up.. LOL

            Nope, he was driving a very expensive Porsche. His mechanic was with him, never proven who was actually driving though, must have been a mess. There's an intersection at the impact site, they reasoned that a car ran the stop sign as i remember it. They were going at a very high rate of speed.
