It's been both for me.other people's opinions give me an insight into what makes this world go around.

Some questions beg for a funny or smart assed answer,others are just too serious to take lightly & deserve compassion & understanding.I try to help where I can.

I think it is both. Hearing other people answers on question of a serious matter, not so serious, or just wanting an opinion on a subject is very interesting.. A lot of members on this site are very humorous with their answers. Many are compassionate and understanding in giving answers to those who are asking questions (like I did) for a matter that they are troubled with. Sometimes not knowing people personally when asking a question is the best person to asked. 

Can be both,depends on how you want to answer a question.Some questions are sad,mad or just bad.We know when to be serious and when not to be.

I agree with Tommy  sometimes not knowing how old a person is becomes alarming. You can't answer all people the same way.
