The head of the Church in early days after Peter were called bishops.  Then they became Popes.  Who was the first to obtain that title? Thanks

St Peter is recognized by the Catholic church as the first pope.

Was it not Peter ? only a guess

Yes I think it was ST. Peter

The first popes were sex-crazed, wine-drinking gluttons. I don't know if anything has changed since those days.

St. Peter the apostle was the first Bishop of Rome and said to be recognised as the first Catholic Pope but this seems to vary as to when the Catholic Church began and more.

"The Pope ... is the bishop of Rome and the Vicar of Christ on earth. He is the visible head of the whole Catholic Church ... Who was the first Pope? St. Peter, who was made Pope by Jesus Christ Himself ... Did Peter's authority die with him? No, it was handed down to a man named Linus, and after he died, it was handed down to another, and so on, during the past 2000 years ... Does Jesus require us to follow the Pope in matters of religion? Yes, because obedience and loyalty to the Pope are among the chief requirements of the Lord's plan for unity in His church"
