    Jealous? Have you experienced this?

My best friend was homecoming queen in our Senior Year in highschool. There she sat on that float in the gold gown, holding a bunch of flowers, her hair flowing and a jeweled crown on top of her head.

I had run against her. (of course)

Oh my. I averted my eyes. I've always thought I would have learned to cope with that emotion if I'd had sisters.

I am not a jealous person but I have been envious of the many people I know who have been married for a long time. I was 41 yrs old when my husband died. I have a great relationship, but I have not been married since.

What's the difference betwen jealous and envious?
You were very young when he died. Maybe you were just too young to process it.

To me jealousy, is dislike or hatred for the person who has something. Envious is unhappy and sad that you dont have what someone else has.

Yes, I have been jealous and also envious.  Those two emotions are hateful and destructive, and when I feel that way, I get busy getting over it.   I do not choose to have those feelings, and it stresses me when I do.  If a  person has said or done something that has been hurtful to me, it is hard for me not to be resentful.  I do have to pray for strength to overcome that bad feeling, and it generally works its way out of my system. It's "Why not me, Lord?  Will I ever be blessed with that?"  It is a conscious effort to put those bad feelings aside.

For others, there is no animosity.

I can honestly say that i have never felt jealousy towards anyone - I was actually the victim of it, A vote went around my high school about who was the prettiest girl -  and it was me. well didnt i cop it from the girls. physical and verbal abuse. I have blonde hair and they threatened to throw black dye over it. I have to say that i also dont love myself, never flirted with the boys, never had a big mouth, never wore make up and i always kept to myself. My high school days were made hell.

Interesting ... Pretty girls are not always happy. There's more to say about this, but I'm off and running.

Time heal all, etc... thank God for that, I'm old enough now that envy has replaced jealousy (I hope)....

To be truthful, yes i have had pangs of jealousy.I see women with beautiful figures and lovely long hair,i would love to look like that, but it is not meant to be.

    itsmee

Yes ... Oh yes ... I know what you mean. And here I am saying that I do not suffer from jealousy or envy. I've grown out of it, I say. Oh Ha ha ha on me. : )

There is not one unattractive woman on this site. I can see you all in my crystal ball. All I see is a bunch of beautiful broads.
    itsmee

On behalf of all of us ... thank you. I have a crystal ball, but I can’t see people in it. I use my mind. : ) You and the other guys are lookin’ real good.

I dont know that I am jealous but i do feel like I am not as cool, or prety as the weman I am around.

    Spaceghost

Don't feel that way Jenn, I'm willing to bet that you ARE COOL and a VERY BEAUTIFUL young lady.
    Jenn

LOL BS.... I am just sayin.... Love you too Spacey!

My self esteem suffers at times. I have been jealous but am finding as I get older, it doesn't seem to rear it's ugly head as much. I have to say that being single helps along the way. I did finally come to a point that when it happened I just realized I needed something better to do and got busy.

I can't ever remember being jealous of anyone or any material thing. If you've got something I find interesting, I'll buy one for myself.

everytime I see someone with a willowy figure, perfect features and no wrinkles, Im afraid I don't like getting older much, but I guess its the one thing Ill have to accept and get used to.

Jenn, You are both as cool and as pretty as the women you are around. I can tell by your sweet  voice and that teeny tiny picture of you.

BTW: MY THUMB HAS BEEN CAUSING ME FITS. IT'S HARD TO WORK THIS AM. IF, BY ANY CHANCE I'VE GIVEN YOU A THUMB DOWN, LET ME DOWN.

Everybody on this thread deserves a thumb up, I think.

Well of coarse were all human, but it seems to me as you get older it becomes less of a problem.

    itsmee

I really agree with you. Kids ... it will get easier.

Both are kind of close to the same both are more destructive to the person having those feelings than the person that they are feeling them about, but yes I am quite sure we have been and will be guilty of that at times in our lives unfortunately.
