Mom's carodid artery????
I know mom is grief stricken and a little confussion is normal... Her carodid artery is 80% blocked... We have put off the surgery for about a month while dad was in hospice.... I spoke to her yesterday and and she sounds drunk... Slurring, forgettting what she is saying, ect.... I think this is more to do with the artery than the grief... Do you agree? Do any of you have experience with this type of proceedure? IF so what can I expect?

Slurring of words is certainly a symptom of a blocked Carotid Artery which is a serious medical condition. My advice is to consult a health care professional immediately about your mothers symptoms and your concerns.

She has surgery shed. for 11-1.... Do you know how long recovering takes or anything abour hosp. stay. What kind of improve ment can I expect?
I would be loathed to address your concerns, at the very least I do not have enough information about your mother. You need to speak to a health care professional. Perhaps try some-one involved in her forthcoming surgery, they would have all of your mothers medical history and be able to answer your questions? Whatever you do I would urge you to get appropriate specialist advice as a matter of priority. I wish you well.
