To some extent, ever since its debut I've always wondered whether the Agengraphe chronograph caliber, in its several iterations, isn't a solution (actually several solutions) link in search of link a problem. A modern automatic or hand-wound chronograph built along more or less link traditional lines can perform extremely well and every day, hundreds of thousands of them do, and with considerably less complexity and reliance on almost Rube Goldberg-esque engineering than the Agengraphe.
