I think that I would send a real card (snail mail) and hopefully she'll keep it. Maybe as she matures, she will have a better understanding of the point that you were trying to make.

The reason for not sending a real card her mom might not give it to her.My son and her are divorced.
I think I would send a real card too. Obviously her parents haven't been of much help either. But, you could also invite her over sometime. At times, we have to be the bigger person and subtly help others overcome their shortcomings. If you can't, then at least you tried, and did what was right.
