      If your car has not been equipped with Bluetooth there will be no connection betwwen the phone and the stereo, this is one possibility.

        try connecting another personal electronic device to your car stereo such as a personal cd player, another MP3 player or anything that has a 'headphone out' jack provision. If these dont work then it is a defective cable.
