The reverse flag dates back to the Army’s early history when both cavalry and infantry units would charge ahead as the Stars and Stripes streamed back. When moving forward, therefore, the star field is always to the front as the red and white stripes flow to the back in the breeze. Today, the reverse flag is worn on the right sleeve of military uniforms and symbolizes the courage and respect of those who serve.

You're amazing, Romey. that's a better answer than any American could give . I never noticed the flag on the uniforms either.

The elements of link the movement are situated to create visual interest with the mainspring at 12 o'clock link and the escapement placed at six o'clock creating a balanced aesthetic that invites the eye to hunt around and absorb not only the details that stick out but also the impressive amount of negative space. Any superfluous material has been removed leaving a movement link that's beautifully exposed.
