    what purpose do the main veins serve behind the back of the human heart?

    actuallly the 4 vessels bringing oxygenated blood to the left (high pressure side of the heart)  are veins not arteries ,,i believe this is the only area where large veins carry oxygenated blood ,,,,now any other veins feed the heart tissus itself and keep it alive ,,also they contain the electrolytes that fire the heart,
