      I think I heard the other day that soda water and bicarbonate is a good stain remover, I often tho damp the stain with water and sprinkle Borax on quite heavily and leave for awhile, the Borax absorbs most stains.

        While it is still wet, cover with salt and let it dry, then brush away the stain....maybe if you rewet it with more wine????????
