how is it that I got into problems with my checking deposit. It cost me $1300.00. I had a lot of small payments. So the bank ran them through again, and I was over the limit. Then it bounced again. This went on a couple of months. Then, all of a sudden I get ready to use my social security that was in my checking account auto pay. My rent check bounced. They took my whole check from me. I've always thought they couldn't take your SS money. So, can the bank really take your whole check?

Have you spoken to your bank manager about this? If you've had an account in good standing with them, a lot of times they will waive the bounced check fees. I'm not sure about whether they can touch your SS or not. I think once it hits your account it is just cash to them.
