    The discovery in the field of chemistry which awarded Prof. Dan Shechtman the nobel price is a pattern of crystals that was unknown. He examined a new crystal he produced in the laboratory with an electron microscope and saw that the new crystal has a different pattern than usual - he counted 10 points arranged in a circle around a central point. This pattern looked impossible under the laws of crysallography, and that why he was awarded...
