I have to say that pine needle mulch doesn't attract them per say....snakes, in general like to hide in camo to hunt. I live in an are that has copperheads I've seen several deep in the woods, and a baby hiding under a rock...all somewhat close to ponds or streams. I have lived in many dif locations, many with pines most with mulch (though not pine mulch) and have never seen one near my homes.
