Do you believe in institutions?
Im not particularly talking about gaols, (jails) but institutions in general, mental fascilities etc.Is it always better to try and cater for people in mainstream society?(group homes etc) and to support intergration, no matter how difficult it is for that person or those in the community

I'm not sure, but I believe marriage is an institution. The real question then is this: Do you wish to become "institutionalized?"

sorry, I may not have been clear enough with the the question,I was really asking about mental/disability fascilities, where we impose our ideals on people that are unable to make their own choices or decions, we take violent people into the community,(often knowing this will result in assaults because the person is unable to cope)to make it look good on reports, dictating what they spend their money on,etc. would they not be better with a placement in an institution where properly qualified people can assess their needs instead of having people (often not qualified) going off on tangents and imposing their own values on these people.
