Could be you just turned it the wrong way.  You may have a pinched nerve or a slipped disk.  Maybe you just slept wrong.  Call your Doctor and ask for an X-RAY.  Then,  just take it from there.  Good luck.

I agree with Yvonne. But, sometimes stress can cause your neck to hurt. Maybe someone you work with or someone in your family or circle of friends is " a pain in the neck "   There used to be something called  a wry neck. That can be painful. I suggest you go to a chiropractor for that.
